The Altstadt Vienna is a small, private 4-star hotel with 42 non-smoking rooms and suites in a renovated historical building in the Spittelberg quarter, only a few steps from the major museums and the Ringstrasse. The English-style Red Salon serves a superb breakfast buffet and a bar where our guests can relax on comfortable sofas next to the open fireplace. In the afternoon we serve complimentary tea and cake for our guests. All rooms and suites are individually decorated, presenting an excellent blend of modern conveniences and traditional Viennese style. Individual attention and first-class service is of the utmost importance to us. The Mariahilfer Strasse, Vienna’s most popular shopping street, is only 5 minutes away. Spittelberg is a popular, trendy district with many restaurants, shops and cultural activities.

The hotel’s 42 rooms and suites, part of a grand Viennese apartment block, are spread out across 5 floors and are all individually decorated. They are stylish, large and comfortable, decorated in classic and chic colours with exclusive light fixtures, highest quality furnishings, luxurious materials and textiles. In 2006 renowned Italian architect Matteo Thun redesigned 9 extraordinary rooms, choosing a “belle époque” elegance that reflects an excitingly modern design with a reference to Vienna's splendid historical past. Here dark colours dominate the interiors, underlined by crystal chandeliers and furnishings of superb quality.

Area information The hotel is situated in a surprisingly quiet area, only a 5-minute walk from the next underground station. You can reach the world-famous Ringstrasse and the Museum Quarter in only 5 to 10 minutes. Vienna's largest shopping street - the Mariahilfer Strasse - and a variety of restaurants are also within walking distance of the hotel. Travel information We can organise a pick-up service from the airport for you (at an additional cost). Please let us know your departure destination, your arrival time and date as well as your flight number. By public transport: Every 20 to 30 minutes there are buses, trains (S7) or the CAT (City Airport Train) leaving to the City Air Terminal "Wien-Mitte" and taking between 16 (CAT) and 30 minutes. From "Wien-Mitte" take the underground line U3 (direction "Ottakring") to "Volkstheater". Take the exit "Burggasse" and follow "Burggasse" for about 5 to 7 minutes. After the second traffic light, turn right into "Kirchengasse". You can find us easily because of our red canopy (on the left-hand side of the street).

Hotel policies

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled later, the first night will be charged. In case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.

Deposit Policy

No deposit will be charged.

VAT and city/tourist taxes

10 % VAT is included. Service charge is not applicable. City/tourist tax is included.

Meal Plan

Buffet breakfast is included in the room rate.

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome. All children under 6 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding. All children under 6 years stay free of charge for cots. All children from 7 to 12 years are charged EUR 15 per night per person for extra beds. All older children or adults are charged EUR 35 per night per person for extra beds. Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 1.
