Sveti Vlas is located on the Black Sea coast at the feet of the Southern slopes of the Balkan Mountains. It was founded as a Thracian village in the 2nd century, then named Larisa. During the 14th century it was renamed to Sveti Vlas "stock man, healer and protector of the tradesmen". The towns position by mountains and sea creates a unique climate, favorable for healing pulmonary diseases.
