Konopiště golf resort is one of the most beautiful in Poland and is just 4km from the hotel. There are two 18-hole courses – including the testing Radecký course - and a 9-hole public course. Surrounded by forest and with various water barriers, gentle slopes and bunkers, the resort is ideal for golfing enthusiasts looking to enjoy a relaxing round.
Just outside the city of Benesov is Konopiště, a castle that has become famous as the last residence of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, whose assassination in Sarajevo started World War I.
The castle was originally built in the 13th century as a Gothic fortification, but Archduke Ferdinand had it rebuilt into a luxurious residence that is now open to the public. Visitors can view the residential rooms of Franz Ferdinand, a large collection of his hunting trophies, an armoury with medieval weapons, a shooting hall with moving targets and a large garden with Italian Renaissance statues.
