Echternach, founded 698, is the oldest town of Luxembourg. Located in the picturesque valley of the Sûre, it is part of the German-Luxemburg natural park. Its architectural heritage bears witness of 2000 years of prestigious history: Roman villa, St. Peter and Paul's Parish Church built in the Merovingian, Romanesque and Gothic style, Romanesque Basilica with the crypt and tomb of St. Willibrord, Law-Cross, Gothic Town Hall, remains of the medieval town wall with its restored towers, Baroque Benedictine Abbey and Rococco Pavilion.
