Kvikne's

Kvikne'sBalholm has innkeeper traditions dating from 1752. The Kvikne family, who owns the place, took it over in 1877. Since then the establishment has undergone constant development which continues to this day. Many new buildings, remodeling and expansion projects have been carried out without diminishing the distinctive architecture and charm of the Swiss chalet-style complex. Today, the hotel is a highly modern facility resounding with tradition and culture, in addition to being one of Norway's largest fine hotels catering to tourists. The list of prominent guests is long. Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany was a frequent guest at Balestrand. Royalty, emperors, presidents, Prime ministers, movie stars and artists from many countries grace the guest list. The hotel has collected a number of art works and collectibles, which are displayed throughout the hotel and give it its special appeal and atmosphere.

If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged.  If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the first night will be charged.

VAT and city/tourist taxes

25 % VAT is included.  Service charge is not applicable.  City/tourist tax is not applicable.

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome.  All children under 4 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.  All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.  All older children or adults are charged NOK 200.00 per night and person for extra beds.  Maximum capacity of extra beds in a room is 1.  Maximum capacity of babycots in a room is 2.
