Old Town (2.5 km) – Gdansk’s beautiful, historic Old Town features many attractive buildings statues and monuments. Gdansk is the Polish maritime capital and lies on the bay of Gdansk and on the southern coast of the Baltic Sea. The city is a thousand years old and, as well as its history and beautiful architecture, it has many museums and art galleries, illuminating the city’s culture and history.
Crane over the Motlawa River (3.2 km) - The crane once played a dual role as a port crane and as Gdansk’s city gate. It has been in its present form since 1442-1444. The machinery of the crane is driven by a huge wooden wheel inside it, which was powered by men walking on it, like a giant hamster wheel. The crane was not only used to unload and reload cargo, it was also used to put up ships’ masts.
