Płock is a city of 130.000 inhabitants, picturesquely located on a steep Vistula riverbank with over 140 historical monuments. It is hard to briefly describe the rich history of Płock. Lots of words should be dedicated to the history itself, to the people, their culture, historic monuments, numerous larger and smaller mysteries and curiosities. The old city of Płock housed both Mazovian dukes and Polish monarchs. Płock was the capital of the Piast ruled state. Many tourists are interested in the tombs of two Piast rulers - Wladyslaw Hermen and Boleslaw Krzywousty 'The Wry-mouthed'. Nowadays, Płock is the symbol of industrial and cultural expansion and international peaceful cooperations.
