Nowogród - situated 15 km west of Łomża, is close to where the river Pisa joins the river Narew. The natural landscape are a big attraction for this area. The town is surrounded by meadows, fields and forests shaping its characteristic landscape and the town's identity. On one side of the Narew are woodlands. These are the remains of the former Great Forest of Kurpie. The woodlands are a sanctuary for many animals and wildlife including wild pigs, elks and deer, grouse, and swans.
The Green Forest of Kurpie is a charming part of Poland. The forests many nature reserves and rich folk culture and are its greatest treasure.
