Area information

Głogów preserves traces of its colourful history from over a thousand years. The medieval layout of streets around the restored buildings. Local attractions include the unusual Old Town with its recent buildings and the exhibition of medieval "Treasures from Głogów" in the Głogów Princes' Castle. The town currently has a population of 73000. Despite significant damage during the Second World War the discovery of copper ore in 1957 enabled its rapid development as the centre of copper extraction in Lower Silesia.
