The inn’s convenient location and great access to the region’s major road network makes it a great base for those looking for leisure breaks in the Cotswolds and the south-west of England. The inn is within very easy reach of many famous attractions covering a wide range of interests including ancient sites, historic cities and even crop circles. Nearby Avebury is the site of possibly the most important pre-historic stone circle in Britain. You could also visit Bowood Estate, which has something for all the family, from the 18th century house, the gardens and the adventure playground to the golf and country club. Corsham Court is also nearby. Based on an Elizabethan house dating from 1582, Corsham Court has been the home of the Methuen family since 1745. Silbury Hill is probably the most mysterious Neolithic site in Europe and is also within easy reach, as is Stonehenge, the world-famous stone circle where building first started over 5,000 years ago. There is also plenty to see and do in the area, from fishing and country walking to golf, and there are 2 golf courses within a 5-minute drive.
The inn is also an excellent base for those visiting the area on business, with easy access to major transport links and the major towns and cities in the south of England. Bristol, Bath, Swindon and Reading are all within reach.
