Formerly lying on the main A9 road to the north Bonar Bridge, the village has now been bypassed and presents itself as a tranquil escape from the bustle of most modern environments. Set on the main A836 cycle route for Lands End to John O'Groats, the village sits at a crossroads of small, lightly used roads, most of which are single track, which lead the curious traveller to all points; north, east and west.
