Standing in the shade of a magnificent 500-year-old oak tree, this traditional bar/restaurant is ideal for those wishing to escape from the rush of modern day life. The non-smoking inn is adjacent to the West Highland Way and is ideal for walkers. After a long day spent exploring the region’s magnificent scenery and breathing in the invigorating fresh air, you can satisfy your hard-earned hunger with a delicious meal. Food is served all day and the bar has a cosy, welcoming atmosphere and a real log fire. The charming, homely accommodation is warm, welcoming and comfortable. All of the traditional bedrooms are individually decorated and have a private bathroom. Some rooms are located in nearby cosy cottages. Relax and enjoy the natural tranquillity and stunning scenery of one of the most beautiful and romantic places in Scotland.

On the banks of Loch Lomond and overlooked by the slopes of Conic Hill, the inn is surrounded by spectacular scenery, magnificent countryside and stunning natural beauty. The Inn is ideal for the first night's stay on the West Highland Way, water sports on the loch and climbing Ben Lomond. The inn is constructed from local slate and reclaimed materials are used throughout the interiors. The inn offers perfectly cooked traditional Scottish fare in the restaurant, a fine selection of lagers, beers and spirits in the atmospheric bar and top-quality accommodation with en suite bathrooms with showers. Each charming room is individually and uniquely decorated.

You can be assured that a warm welcome awaits you in the Oak Tree Inn, with its warm, welcoming atmosphere, its huge roaring log fire and its impressive range of ales and spirits. Constructed from a 300-year-old elm tree, the bar area is an ideal spot to enjoy a quiet drink or to indulge yourself in the stimulating company of the locals and fellow travellers alike Combining the best of traditional Scottish cooking and unique delicacies such as Arctic Char, the menu offers something to suit all tastes. The seasonal daily specials are a popular feature and snacks, bar meals and traditional afternoon teas are also available.

Admire the stunning scenery and enjoy hill walking on nearby Ben Lomond and Conic Hill, or experience Loch Lomond’s fishing, boating and water sports. You could even hire a boat from the boatyard next to the Oak Tree Inn. The recently opened Loch Lomond Shores, with leisure and shopping facilities amid beautiful scenery, is just 15 minutes’ drive from the Oak Tree Inn.

Travel information

By Car (from Glasgow Airport) - From Glasgow, take the A82 to Balloch. - Then take the A811 to Drymen. - Balmaha is 4 miles (6.5 km) further on from Balloch. By Car (from Glasgow) - Cross the Erskine Bridge, join the A82 and then follow the instructions above.

Hotel policies

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 7 days before date of arrival, 30 percent of all nights will be charged.  If cancelled later or in case of no-show, 50 percent of all nights will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

30 percent of the total amount will be charged on the day of booking and is non-refundable. 

VAT and city/tourist taxes

17.5 % VAT is included.  Service charge is not applicable.  City/tourist tax is not applicable. 

Meal Plan

Full English breakfast is included in the room rate. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome.  All children under 4 years stay free of charge when using existing bedding.  Baby cots are not available.  There is no capacity for extra beds in the room.
