Steeped in history, the area is rich in stunning natural beauty and has become a favourite for film makers, Harry Potter, Braveheart and Rob Roy were all filmed locally.
World-famous, historic Glencoe is just a few miles south and the UK’s highest peak, Ben Nevis, lies just north, outside the town of Fort William. The area boasts miles of unspoilt countryside and dramatic mountain areas, with walks and climbs ranging from the very easy to those for the experienced walker or climber.
Renamed in recent years as The Outdoor Capital of the UK, Lochaber offers everything from a sedate game of golf to a thrilling downhill mountain-bike ride. Nearby in Kinlochleven, you will find the award-winning Ice Factor, which is home to the biggest indoor ice-climbing facility in the world, as well as indoor and outdoor climbing walls. The Nevis Range ski area has a gondola lift and several chairlifts and ski tows.
