Queens House Guest HouseQueens House, formerly a 17th Century Coaching Inn, is situated opposite St. Mary's Church in the heart of Bures. You can laze in our pretty walled garden or take one of the many Stour Valley walks. Bures lies on either side of the River Stour, which forms the boarder between Suffolk and Essex. You will be ideally situated for exploring nearby towns of Bury St Edmund's, Long Melford, Colchester, Lavenham and Sudbury. The house has large comfortable rooms, the bar has a large inglenook fireplace giving you a warm welcome on chilly evenings.

Travel information

Please use our map. From Colchester North Station, take the b1508 to Wormingford and Bures. Follow the road round to the right across the River Stour and then Queens House is facing you. Bures has a train station, which is served from Liverpool Street on the Ipswich/Colchester line, changing at Marks Tey for the Sudbury line. Bures is the second stop.

Cancellation Policy

If cancelled up to 1 day before the date of arrival, no fee will be charged.  If cancelled later, the first night will be charged.  In case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged. 

Deposit Policy

No deposit will be charged. 

VAT and city/tourist taxes

VAT is included.  Service charge is included.  City/tourist tax is not applicable. 

Meal Plan

Full English breakfast is included in the room rate. 

Children and Extra Bed Policy

All children are welcome.  All children under 1 year stay free of charge when using existing bedding.  All children under 2 years stay free of charge for cots.  All older children or adults are charged GBP 10 per night and person for extra beds.  Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 2.
