The Kirkton Inn is in the village of Dalrymple 6 miles southeast of Ayr, just off the A77. It is said to be the village which inspired the musical the "Brigadoon". It is between two Open Golf Champion Courses, Turnberry and Troon and in the heart of Ayrshires 30+ golf courses. Ayr Racecourse is 6 miles away and excellent salmon and trout fishing on the River Doon is on our doorstep. The town of Ayr 6miles away is a great shopping centre with all the large shops and a selection of good private outlets. Culzean Castle and Counrty Park is 20 minutes away standing impressively on the cliffs overlooking the golden sands of the Firth of Clyde. Scotland's national poet, Robert Burns was born in Alloway only 3 miles from the inn and many tourists do enjoy visiting the tourist centre there. The inn is just off the A77, the main route from Scotland to the Irish Ferry Terminals at Cairnryan and Stranraer.
