With many notable attractions such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the lovely market town of Bakewell only a short drive away, landmarks like the dramatic grit stone edges at Froggatt, Curbar and Stanage, the Blue John caverns at Castleton and the twin dams on the Derwent/Ladybower Reservoirs - famously used during training for the WW2 Dambusters' Raids - are also within easy reach.
Chatsworth House - the Palace of the Peaks is home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and is widely regarded as one of Britain's best loved historic houses and estates. Together with the nearby Haddon Hall, Chatsworth was used as a location in the new film adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Amongst the many local events that attract visitors are the traditional Derbyshire village well dressings, Chatsworth Horse Trials, Bakewell Show, and the Longshaw Sheepdog Trials.
